Community Art

I particularly enjoy running community art projects involving all ages and abilities.

My current  inspiration for my projects is Canadian artist  – Lewis Lavoie. I am using his idea of mural mosaics.  The completed piece of art work is made up of a number of squares, each a picture in its own right but together they makes a composite scene.  I design the overall picture and guide the community into completion of each square following the colour theme and outlines.

Part of Wem

This project is of a 3m high Hare ( I love hares!).  It was unveiled at Wem (Shropshire) Town Hall by comedian Greg Davies in January 2013 and the artists ranged from 4 months old to 87.  It was on display at Theatre Severn before returning to Wem Town Hall.  What a privilege  to be involved with a piece of art where the whole community were enthused.

Meres and Mosses

Meres and Mosses landscape funded this piece of work for the town of Whitchurch (Shropshire).   It was unveiled in September 2013 at Cholmondeley Castle (Cheshire).

Part of Wem 2

Sponsored by Princes Electrical of Wem (Shropshire), this is a smaller piece  of art work  – 1.25m x 1.25m.   The piece is a working clock depicting the seasons and was completed by many local groups including the local retained firefighters and community police.

Arts for Health Community Projects

I have recently been working with service users and carers at the Redwoods Centre Shropshire on several projects, including 2 big mural mosaics for ward gardens. I think the  end results are amazing but most importantly all the have a go artists really enjoyed the process and found it very therapeutic.
